LAKESIDE MOUNTAIN MODERN
Because of the small size of the lot and the setbacks required by the city code, this is a very restrictive and challenging site. The design intent is to provide the owners with the functions that they desire in their lake home while keeping the footprint and mass of the structure as minimal as possible. Care has been taken to maximize the use of the small buildable area of the lot, while providing an aesthetically rich architectural project using various materials, wall thicknesses, recesses in the structure, and fenestration. The design is contemporary in appearance, but the exterior materials are traditional to the mountain vernacular of the area. Natural materials such as reclaimed barn wood siding, reclaimed timbers, weathered steel roofing, and dry-stacked fieldstone convey a sense of human scale and warmth. The finished project will blend a modern form dictated by a challenging site with the character and historic style of cabins in the Payette Lake community.
